A family winery at Kastelbell, worked by the Pohl family since 1786 on the steep Sonnenberg slopes at 600 metres.
The Sonnenberg above Kastelbell is dry, steep and relentlessly sunny, and the Pohl family has been farming it at Köfelgut since 1786. The vines sit at around 600 metres, which is high for wine and shows in the glass. Getting up there costs you a climb; it is the good kind.
Racks right by the terrace and they refilled all four of our bottles without being asked.
Fast service, we were back on the road in twenty minutes.
Nobody blinked at four people in lycra. Portions sized for riders.
Charged the battery over lunch, no charge for it.
