About this route
The Salzkammergut rides like a series of doors opening: Mondsee's reed banks give way to a short climb through orchard meadows, then the water appears again, darker and deeper, at Wolfgangsee. Locals have been rowing bread and cheese across these lakes for centuries, and the route still leans on the ferries where the shore road runs out. Ride it slowly, in the order the lakes want, and finish with Salzburger Nockerl on a terrace where the Schafberg is doing all the work.
