The apricot is the Wachau's other great crop, and around the Göttweiger Berg the Aufreiter family tends orchards of very old trees at Angern near Krems. What comes out of them is unhurried: apricot spirits and jams, made in small quantities, tasting of fruit that has had decades to learn the hillside.
